Matthew 5:32

(Murdock)  But I say to you, That whoever putteth away his wife, except for the offence of whoredom, causeth her to commit adultery: and he that taketh the divorced woman, committeth adultery.

(ALT)  "But I say to youp, whoever divorces his wife, except for a matter of sexual sin [or, fornication, and throughout NT], makes her to be committing adultery; and whoever marries the one having been divorced commits adultery.

(ACV)  But I say to you, that whoever may divorce his wife apart from a matter of fornication, disposes her to commit adultery, and whoever may marry her who has been divorced commits adultery.

(AKJ)  But I say to you, That whoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery: and whoever shall marry her that is divorced commits adultery.

(ALTNT)  "But _I_ say to you*, whoever divorces his wife, except for a matter of sexual sin [or, fornication, and throughout NT], makes her to be committing adultery; and whoever marries the one having been divorced commits adultery.

(AUV-NT)  But I say to you,  every person who divorces his wife makes her become sexually unfaithful to him  [i.e.,  since she will probably marry someone else],  unless the reason for the divorce is that she had  [already]  become sexually unfaithful to him.  And whoever marries a woman who has been divorced commits sexual sin with her  [i.e.,  because she is still rightfully married to her first husband]

(ASV)  but I say unto you, that every one that putteth away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, maketh her an adulteress: and whosoever shall marry her when she is put away committeth adultery.

(BBE)  But I say to you that everyone who puts away his wife for any other cause but the loss of her virtue, makes her false to her husband; and whoever takes her as his wife after she is put away, is no true husband to her.

(VW)  But I say to you that whoever puts away his wife for any reason except sexual perversion causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.

(Bishops)  But I say vnto you, that whosoeuer doeth put awaye his wyfe, except it be for fornication, causeth her to commit adultry. And whosoeuer maryeth her that is diuorced, committeth adultry.

(CENT)  But I say to you that every one who divorces his wife, except on the ground of unchastity, causes her to become an adulteress; and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

(CEV)  But I tell you not to divorce your wife unless she has committed some terrible sexual sin. If you divorce her, you will cause her to be unfaithful, just as any man who marries her is guilty of taking another man's wife.

(CJB)  But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of fornication, makes her an adulteress; and that anyone who marries a divorcee commits adultery.

(CLV) Yet I am saying to you that everyone dismissing his wife (outside of case of prostitution) is making her commit adultery, and whosoever should be marrying her who has been dismissed is committing adultery.

(Mace)  but I say unto you, whoever shall put away his wife, except in the case of adultery, is the occasion of her being an adulteress, and he that shall marry her is an adulterer.

(Darby)  But *I* say unto you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except for cause of fornication, makes her commit adultery, and whosoever marries one that is put away commits adultery.

(DRP (Gospels))  But I tell you that anyone who releases his wife, except for grounds of fornication,  causes her to commit adultery, and anyone who marries a released woman commits adultery.

(DIA)  I but say to you, that whoever may release the wife of him, except on account of fornication, makes her to commit adultery; and whoever her being divorced, may marry, commits adultery.

(DRB)  But I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, excepting the cause of fornication, maketh her to commit adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery.

(EMTV)  "But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except for a matter of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a divorcee commits adultery.

(ESV)  But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife,  except on the ground of sexual immorality,  makes her commit adultery.  And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

(ERV)  But I tell you that any man who divorces his wife, except for the problem of sexual sin, is causing his wife to be guilty of adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman is guilty of adultery.

(Etheridge)  But I say unto you, that whosoever looseth his wife, except on account of fornication, maketh her to commit adultery; and whosoever taketh her who is sent away, committeth adultery.

(EVID)  But I say to you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced commits adultery.

(Geneva)  But I say vnto you, whosoeuer shall put away his wife (except it be for fornication) causeth her to commit adulterie: & whosoeuer shal marrie her that is diuorced, committeth adulterie.

(GNB)  But now I tell you: if a man divorces his wife for any cause other than her unfaithfulness, then he is guilty of making her commit adultery if she marries again; and the man who marries her commits adultery also.

(GDBY_NT) But I say unto you, that every one sending away his wife, except on account of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever may marry her who has been cast off commits adultery.

(GW)  But I can guarantee that any man who divorces his wife for any reason other than unfaithfulness makes her look as though she has committed adultery. Whoever marries a woman divorced in this way makes himself look as though he has committed adultery.

(HCSB-r)  But I tell you, everyone who divorces his wife, except in a case of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

(HNV)  but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.

(csb)   But I tell you, everyone who divorces his wife, except in a case of sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery.

(IAV) But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

(ISV)  But I say to you, any man who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery."

(JMNT)  "Yet I, Myself, am now saying to you folks that every man proceeding in dismissing (loosing-away) his wife – outside of a case of infidelity (fornication; prostitution; sexual misconduct) – proceeds in making her a subject of adultery.

(JST)  Wherefore,  if thy right eye offend thee,  pluck it out and cast it from thee;  for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish,  and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

(JOSMTH)  Wherefore, if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out and cast it from thee; for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

The reading most in accord with the author's style ( and vocabulary ) is best.

The reading which best fits the context or the author's theology( and ideology ) is best.
