Verb, singular, masculine, third person, qal passive, passive, suffixed perfect, pu”al, perfect.

Glossary of Morpho Syntactic Database Terminology

perfect — The suffixed conjugation in Hebrew. The suffixed conjugation denotes the perfective aspect of the verb. That is, it views the action of the verb from an outer perspective, the perspective of seeing or thinking of the action of the verb as a whole and complete, without respect to the time of the action. The perfect conjugation conveys the totality of an action without dividing up its chronological processes. The Hebrew Perfect, then, is not a tense, a grammatical term that speaks of the time of the verb’s action (past, present, future, etc.). Biblical Hebrew does not have tense like English or Greek (time of action is conveyed by context). Perfective aspect refers to a kind of action, not the time of the action. An action in Hebrew may be viewed or conceived as entire even if that action has not yet taken place. [Note: there are grammars that present a tense, rather than aspect, interpretation of the Hebrew verb.] When the context dictates, the suffix conjugation also conveys the indicative mood, the mood of reality. This conjugation is often referred to as the qatal conjugation. See BHRG §15.1, §19.2; GKC§44, §106; IBHS§30;J-M §42, §112.

Gesenius describes it as follows:

"The perfect serves to express actions, events, or states, which the speaker wishes to represent from the point of view of completion, whether they belong to a determinate past time, or extend into the present, or while still future, are pictured as in their completed state." (GKC §106a)[

فلهذا ترجمته بالمضارع هو الأفضل

وأيضا يقول ويضرب امثلة

ان الفعل التام يعبر عن حقيقة لا شك حتمية وفي ذهن المتكلم (النبي) هي اكتملت بالفعل في الرؤيا وهي ستحدث في المستقبل

ثم يكمل بأمثلة كثيرة

"[The perfect can be used to] express facts which are undoubtedly imminent, and, therefore, in the imagination of the speaker, already accomplished (perfectum confidentiae), e.g. Nu 17:27... Gn 30:13, 1 S 6:5 ..., Pr 4:2. Even in interrogative sentences, Gn 18:12, Nu 17:28, 23:10, Ju 9:9, 11, Zc 4:10 (?), Pr 22:20.8 This use of the perfect occurs most frequently in prophetic language (perfectum propheticum). The prophet so transports himself in imagination into the future that he describes the future event as if it had been already seen or heard by him, e.g. Is 5:13 ...; 19:7, Jb 5:20, 2 Ch 20:37. Not infrequently the imperfect interchanges with such perfects either in the parallel member or further on in the narrative." (GKC §106n)[5]

Waltke & O'Connor:

Referring to absolute future time, a perfective form may be persistent or accidental. A persistent (future) perfective represents a single situation extending from the present into the future.... With an accidental perfective a speaker vividly and dramatically represents a future situation both as complete and as independent…. This use is especially frequent in prophetic address (hence it is also called the “prophetic perfect” or “perfective of confidence”)

Isaac ben Yedaiah:

alektorophobia_1: "[The rabbis] of blessed memory followed, in these words of theirs, in the paths of the prophets who speak of something which will happen in the future in the language of the past. Since they saw in prophetic vision that which was to occur in the future, they spoke about it in the past tense and testified firmly that it had happened, to teach the certainty of his [God's] words -- may he be blessed -- and his positive promise that can never change and his beneficent message that will not be altered." (Isaac ben Yedaiah)

Verb, nifal, singular, masculine, third person, passive, suffixed perfect, perfect.

فعل على وزن نيفعال مفرد مذكر مبني للمجهول مفعول نهاية تام فعل تام

ولهذا بنفس الطريقة يترجم is given في المضارع لأنه في صيغة التام في العبري كما شرحت سابقا

الفعل الثالث هنا وهو محوري ويفصل الامر وهو فعل وتكون الذي يجب ان يترجم وسوف تكون shall be

وتصريفه

Verb, qal, singular, feminine, third person, active, prefixed imperfect sequential, wayyiqtol.

فعل بسيط مفرد مؤنث مبني للمجهول مباشر بداية غير تامة فعل مستقبل متبدل وييقتول

وتشرح المراجع هذا التصريف انه مستقبل متبدل

imperfect waw-consecutive, wayyiqtol — The combination of the Hebrew prefixed conjugation (the ‘imperfect’ or yiqtol) preceded by an attached strong waw (ו). (The strong [a.k.a. ‘consecutive’, ‘conversive’] waw is distinguished from the normal copulative waw by a lengthening of the vowel under the waw from a šwa וְ to a pata וַ or qāme וָ and a doubling [with the dāgēš ּ] of the following consonant [except gutturals]) This construction commonly conveys past tense / time. It is frequently referred to by grammarians as the “waw-consecutive” form, the ‘preterite’ form, or the wayyiqtol / vayyiqtol form. Tense-based approaches to the Hebrew verb use other labels as well, such as “inverted future”.

ولهذا يترجم ادق ترجمة shall be upon

أي لو زمن يولد وزمن نعطى تام غير محدد يشير لحدث في المستقبل الا ان زمن وتكون هو محدد في المستقبل وهذا الفعل يؤكد ان التصريفين التامين السابقين هما مضارع إشارة للمستقبل

تصريف ويدعى هو نفس التصريف وتكون ولكنه مذكر

Verb, qal, singular, masculine, third person, active, prefixed imperfect sequential, wayyiqtol.

فعل بسيط مفرد مذكر مبني للمجهول مباشر بداية غير تامة فعل مستقبل متبدل

ولهذا ادق ترجمة له shall be called

اعتقد الامر لغويا اتضح وتم تأكيده ففعلين هم تامين يترجمان بالمضارع وفعلين مستقبل متبدل

وأيضا قام العلماء من اليهود بترجمة مخطوطة قمران لسفر إشعياء حرفيا (وهي في رأيي ادق ترجمة)

(5) Because a child is born to us and a son is given to us and the government shall be upon his shoulders and he shall be called wonderful, ombreor, mighty God, everlasting father the prince of peace.

أي ترجمة اليهود أنفسهم اثنين بالمضارع واثنين بالمستقبل

أيضا ما يهمني في هذا وهو ترجمة هامة جدا لنص الماسوريتك العبري لأنها ليست ترجمة المسيحيين ولكن ترجمة اليهود أنفسهم وهي ترجمة المؤسسة اليهودية سنة 1917 (تعديلات حديثة غيرت هذا ولكن الاصلية من سنة 1917)

JEWISH PUBLICATION SOCIETY BIBLE 1917

(JPS) (9:5) For a child is born unto us, a son is given unto us; and the government is upon his shoulder; and his name is called Pele- joez-el-gibbor-Abi-ad-sar-shalom;

9:6 For a child is born to us, and a son is given to us, whose government is upon his shoulder: and his name is called the Messenger of great counsel: for I will bring peace upon the princes, and health to him.

أي قدمت تراجم اليهود للعدد قبل الميلاد وبعده وعلى مدار 23 قرن وقالوا انها بالمضارع

فهل اليهود قبل الميلاد بثلاث قرون وحتى حاليا يعرفون انها بالماضي عن حزقيا الملك ورغم هذا يترجمونها بالمضارع إشارة للمستقبل؟

واضع تصريف أفعال السبعينية مثل يولد ونعطى ويدعى

V-API-3S

Part of Speech: Verb

Tense: Aorist

Voice: Passive

Mood: Indicative

Person: third [he/she/it]

Number: Singular

فعل تام مبني للمجهول سببي غير مباشر

فهو ليس في الماضي

بل فعل يدعى تصريفه في السبعينية

V-PMI-3S

Part of Speech: Verb

Tense: Present

Voice: Middle

Mood: Indicative

Person: third [he/she/it]

Number: Singular

أي بالمضارع

فهل بعد هذا سيستمر أحد يدعي انها بالماضي؟

ولهذا الترجمة اللاتينية للقديس جيروم من القرن الرابع الميلادي أيضا ترجمها في المضارع

Vulgate (Latin): Isaiah Chapter 9

6 Parvulus enim natus est nobis, et filius datus est nobis, et factus est principatus super humerum ejus: et vocabitur nomen ejus, Admirabilis, Consiliarius, Deus, Fortis, Pater ombre sæculi, Princeps pacis.

For a CHILD IS BORN to us, and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace.

والارامية البشيتا من القرن الرابع في المضارع وترجمتها للدكتور لمزا

(Lamsa) For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder: and his name is called Wonderful Counsellor, The Mighty One, The Everlasting God, The Prince of Peace.

15 tn The Hebrew perfect is used as the prophet takes a rhetorical stance in the future. See the note at Isa_9:1.
